Goebbels and the Führer follows Joseph Goebbels in his last seven years by Hitler's side. While Hitler is at the height of his power, Goebbels is the creator of the pictures of the flag-waving crowds and of the anti-Semitic films "Jud Süß" and "Der ewige Jude", preparing the people for the mass murder of the Jews. After the defeat at Stalingrad and the situation becoming increasingly hopeless in late 1944, Goebbels plans the most radical propaganda act, his last staging, with Hitler's suicide, the murder of his family and his own suicide.

Kevin Maher The Times (UK) This film, though earnest and often compelling, is trapped somewhere in between. It never fully finds a voice. Rated: 3/5 Jun 10, 2025 Full Review Danny Leigh Financial Times If Goebbels’ inner life is mostly just a maw of self-interest, the depth of his murderous antisemitism is also keenly felt. Rated: 3/5 Jun 9, 2025 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Perhaps there can be nothing totally new to say on film about Hitler and nazism, but Lang is interesting on the hidden disbelief and fear that existed among the leaders. Rated: 4/5 Jun 4, 2025 Full Review Brian Viner Daily Mail (UK) The film cleverly fuses drama with actual newsreel footage and, as compelling as it is disturbing, is well worth seeing. Rated: 4/5 Jun 20, 2025 Full Review Markie Robson-Scott The Arts Desk The film does make its point with a rather sledge-hammer effect, but it’s fascinating to see how obsessed Hitler was over waging war and how unenthusiastic the German people were about the idea of conflict. Rated: 4/5 Jun 6, 2025 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia Lang strives to build the biopic with an authentic setting, but, unfortunately, its narration remains stuck in a didactic, lukewarm terrain, which loses pulse by reiterating the work of the evil Nazi bureaucrat. Cinephile B All films, especially well-documented ones like this one, are important to understanding the horror of what happened. This one in particular presents Goebbels's view - his life, his perspective - something that was new to me. The plot keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/23/25 Full Review Aaron K Though no downfall, still a fantastic image into the mind of Hitlers most evil propagandist. You see Goebbels at his best, which was humanities worst. The actors choice little like the figures they play, but it doesn't matter. As close as you can see to pure and total evil in the form of film. Goebbels shines as a mastermind of true and pure racial hatred. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/04/25 Full Review هاوزين الخياط K Must see it as soon Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review David S Heavy material. It happened and can happen again. We gotta learn to earn respect from one another. Hate is not love. It's an absolute problem with solutions. First being....learn. The events did happen. When watching this film you see how real these men were. Not just evil but, all their sides. Hitler hated seeing animal's abused. He wanted to put 💀 face on cigarette 🚬 s. He was also an insane, cunning person which this film shows. Not just the known history and the reality. 20 million dead in WW2. MAYBE we can learn from this. Maybe not. Time will tell. Israel. Iran. Ukraine. Russia. War is everywhere. Hate still is alive and well. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Thomas S Very well made and interesting , even more so if you like the subject.
