Critics Consensus

Zac Efron makes Gold worth watching, even if the film as a whole struggles to match its leading man's committed central performance.

A taut, focused, and surprisingly potent thriller. It also features a terrific Zac Efron performance that gives long-time naysayers like me a chance to rethink our past feelings on the 34-year-old actor. Go to Full Review

Love the desert setting and soundtrack matches it perfectly. Storyline lacks punch but the believable acting fills that gap. See more Spike D @Spike93 May 13 The dry, cracking filth of it all serves as a great canvas for Efron, who gives one of the best performances of his career to date. Instead of both going to get the excavator Zak stays behind not only facing certain death but also brings attention to the exact spot the gold is buried. Wow. See more Read all reviews
