      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Helen Mirren is typically masterful in the title role, but Golda never amounts to much more than a passable history lesson presented in largely underwhelming biopic form.

Golda is a moving history lesson that gives you a good feel for the real people and events it depicts -- and Helen Mirren is incredible in the title role.

DOps This was an outstanding character study of a unique individual. Helen Mirin was unrecognizable powerful in her depiction of Golda. Recounting the stakes and actions of the Yom Kippur war was timely. The director took no sides -- only depicting the struggles of a leader to survive physically and nationally. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/05/23 Full Review DANIEL A remarkably powerful movie with a world-class performance by Helen Mirren as Golda Meir. A painfully honest and accurate depiction of the horrors and tragedies of the Yom Kippur war. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jenny Nulf Austin Chronicle Golda isn’t a failure of skill, but one of vision. Rated: 2/5 Nov 17, 2023 Full Review Hannah Strong London Evening Standard Golda is more like a chapter of a dusty history book than an invigorating, timely glimpse into the past. Rated: 2/5 Oct 10, 2023 Full Review Alex Godfrey Empire Magazine Golda lives in the shadow of the film it wants to be, but Mirren’s warm performance and the claustrophobia of it all make it linger regardless. Rated: 3/5 Oct 9, 2023 Full Review Julian Wood FILMINK (Australia) The film taken as a whole is both intense and tense. Mirren’s performance is worth the price of the ticket on its own. Rated: 15.5/20 Apr 21, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews This is not a flattering portrayal of Golda, but an indecisive one. Rated: B Mar 18, 2024 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia Unfortunately, after half an hour it abandons all its dramatic force and reduces the presence of the Iron Lady to that of an artificial caricature that consumes itself like the ashes of a cigarette.
