Steve D Entertaining but should have fleshed out its protagonist more. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review victor o I remember watching a few bits and pieces of this movie on a weekend and not thinking about it much other than the lead being a gorgeous blonde. I also read a description of this movie expecting something different. A description implying a Nazi-style conspiracy but if anything, it was false advertising. Set in a fictional 1980s Olympics, Goldine Serafine, a tall blonde American athlete trained from childhood to become a gold medalist gets involved in the process of being sent to the Olympics after years of training from her father who has studied her development and training with a cold and calculated determination to see her become a gold medalist. With numerous people ready to support her, the question truly abounds, does Goldine really want this or just to satisfy her father's ambitions? This wasn't half bad at all. With Curt Jurgens thrown in the midst as Mr. Serafine, I have expected a former Nazi wanting to prove the old master race theory, but this was a crazed and determined doctor using old methods to advance his view of athletics. But even without that, I am more than sure that the background of this is legitimate in that the Olympic trials are a grueling trial for any athlete with dreams of glory. Susan Anton is both lovely and a physically phenomenal presence. Truly a gifted actress as well as a performer who made her mark as a beauty queen and does a great job in this drama. This story though is a bit lacking but it does have its moments. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
