      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Goldfinger is where James Bond as we know him comes into focus - it features one of 007's most famous lines ("A martini. Shaken, not stirred.") and a wide range of gadgets that would become the series' trademark.

Penelope Houston Sight & Sound Goldfinger allows nothing to impede its sense of humour: it converts Bond into a human equivalent of the cat in the Tom and Jerry cartoons, with the same ghastly resilience and the same capacity for absorbing punishment. Jul 6, 2018 Full Review Wanda Hale New York Daily News It's phenomenal! Rated: 4/4 Dec 21, 2015 Full Review Eric Shorter Daily Telegraph (UK) Ours not to reason why with "Goldfinger"; ours but to gape and admire; which is very easy and enjoyable until the story's iceberg of extravagance finally appears in its true proportions. Feb 2, 2014 Full Review Sarah Cortinaz InSession Film Bond is grittier in this action role while still holding on to his sleek and handsome charm. But more importantly, the Bond girls change, definitely for the better. Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... forged the formula of tongue-in-cheek wit, wondrous secret agent toys created by Q, and megalomaniac supervillains bent on world destruction. It was an instant smash hit and turned the series into a cultural phenomenon. Adi 1 Goldfinger hands down is one of the best in the entire series. It simply has everything great to offer, you have action, one-liners, a great villain, memorable bond girl and Sean Connery as Bond. Absolutely iconic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review alan g Best Bond movie ever. Unfortunately it started tge trend for spy gadgets in the Bond films but it works. Beautiful Bond girls. Believable acting. Great plot. Accurate Fort Knox . Not true to the book but better. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Ava S Despite not being a non-stop thrill ride, Goldfinger remains entertaining with its unique villains and an interesting journey that fully showcases Bond's cunning prowess. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Tony S Goldfinger, the criminal, to other criminals: man has made great progress in everything but crime. "My plan is foolproof." The key to the advancement of crime: an invisible nerve gas, a laser, and an atomic device. Not the most imaginative plot by any stretch, but not as many impossibilities as other Bond movies. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review William Joseph B It's the definitive best Bond movie... and there are a lot of great Bond movies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Daniel G The classic bond movie. This movie made bond into who he is today. Bond himself has charm and carisma. Goldfinger is the archetypal Bond villain. Pussy Galore built on the Bond girl formula. Q came into his own, creating the character we love to this day. This movie is where it really all began.
