Donald J Needless to say, fantastic? Possibly W.C. Fields's best film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Audience Member fields shows off his golf routine Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A very funny Vaudeville extension which finds Fields trying to woo a promiscuous (and married) woman by his golf skills- only to find everything in his way. The film shows off Fields' genius as a comedy multi-tasker; every gag overlaps the next one, and before we know it we're in the middle of an absolute trainwreck of hilarity. But Fields doesn't do this all alone- a clueless caddy, played by Al Wood, is at the center of many of the funniest jokes, and it is he who brings out some of the funniest situations in the film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This has to be the funniest movie ever. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member "The Golf Specialist" can best be described as a filmed Vaudeville act starring W.C. Fields. Unfortunately, I just thought this act was monotonous and wore out its welcome. Fields plays a scam-artist who befriends a little lady and wants to teach her golf. The next ten minutes are of him and his caddy doing tacky slapstick bits until the police finally show up and arrest Fields. Really, that's it. The jokes aren't that funny and Fields doesn't really utilize the camera all that much. The film just felt really bland and I didn't care for it. Luckily, it's a short film, so the pain doesn't last too long, but like I said, the film was long enough to wear out its welcome. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Not much happens, but we do still hear Fields mumble about things under his breath.
