Its lack of a compelling storyline and overreliance on so-so slapstick will limit its appeal to easily distracted preschoolers. Go to Full Review

If being innocuous were a crime, Gooby would cause Canada to reinstate the death penalty pronto. Go to Full Review

This should be, by all accounts, a horror movie. It is instead a Canadian family comedy. So, you know, same difference. Go to Full Review

Entertaining for kids while slightly corny and silly for adults, but it's often harmless, bighearted and filled with inspirational messages about friendship, hope and the importance of family which everyone, young and old, can appreciate. Go to Full Review

Instead of inspiring children to be brave and loving, it will most likely send them cowering under the covers in terror. They've already got Chucky movies for that. Go to Full Review

Isaiah N May 30 I sat down to watch Gooby expecting a quirky, forgettable kids' movie. What I got instead was something I can only describe as a full-blown existential experience. From the moment Gooby appears—with those enormous, slightly unhinged eyes—it’s clear this isn’t your average family film. There’s something unsettling, almost cosmic, about him. What starts off as a story about a lonely boy and his imaginary friend quickly spirals into a strange, emotional deep dive into fear, love, childhood trauma, and the chaos of growing up. Gooby isn’t just some goofy character in a fuzzy costume. He’s a symbol—of innocence lost, of protection, of something lurking just outside the edges of reality. He doesn’t so much arrive as materialize, like a fever dream that decides to stick around. And he doesn’t offer comfort in any traditional sense—he forces you to feel. All of it. By the time the final act hit, I honestly couldn’t tell if I was laughing, crying, or just having some sort of breakdown. Probably all three. Eugene Levy’s performance as Gooby? Genuinely incredible. I know how that sounds. But I’m serious. There’s a weird, quiet intensity to the way he delivers this character that’s weirdly moving. Like if Daniel Day-Lewis had decided to play a haunted plush toy and somehow made it profound. Gooby is not an easy watch. It’s bizarre. It’s uncomfortable. It’s beautiful. It’s terrifying. But it’s also unforgettable. Since watching it, I don’t feel quite like myself. I hear Gooby’s voice when I close my eyes. I catch glimpses of my childhood in my own reflection. It’s like the film crawled into my subconscious and rearranged the furniture. Ten stars. Every star. All of them. Every star in the sky. Gooby didn’t just change the way I watch movies. It changed me. —The Goobster See more George B Mar 31 Just a fun and good movie that Turn mind off movie wise it’s really funny and some areas please make a number two i’m dying to know what happened to the kid See more Jan 22 it’s a free watch on YouTube.
