A lesbian and proto-feminist reformulation of the wolf stories that shines for its admirable stylistic construction, and for its maternal and loving look at a story that, otherwise, would have been a faithful servant of the horror genre and that, instead, is presented like a sweet, well-acted film about resistance and the unexpected bonds that are born from inexorable circumstances.

This movie is bat$hip crazy and thus very hard to describe without spoiling. However this musical/comedy/drama/horror/thriller.... you get the idea comes out of the blender and isn't bad. It works and despite some overstretched scenes never takes itself serious. The acting may make you cringe, but overall this is really well made and fun. That 2-hour plus run time may be intimidating, but it's never predictable. Final Score: 7.1/10

I am not sure the running time is entirely justify, but the film is sweet even in its dark moments, and this fairy tale of present days, is a bit romantic and a bit "tale from the crypt-y". It also illustrate the difficulties of adoption. :D

Watched at theaters with some friends. Loved the character relations and the twist is unexpected. But the film feels incoherent and overly long; it feels like a totally different movie after the 7-year jump. But I'd still recommend it.
