This film examines an actual police investigation from 1989. Charles Stuart (Ken Olin) reports that an African-American male attempted to hold up his automobile. Stuart survived the incident with a gunshot wound, but his pregnant spouse (Annabella Price) and the couple's unborn son both died in a stunning act of violence. The subsequent murder case exposes preexisting race-related biases. But when holes begin to appear in the husband's story, the investigation takes a sharp turn.
