Good Time isn't an exuberant or happy-go-lucky emotional ride, rather it's the cruel irony of white privileged in even the lowest rungs of class. Go to Full Review

Nick's character doesn't exactly develop, but we do see its innards teased gradually apart. Ben Safdie's touching performance bookends the film with enormous grace. Go to Full Review

Pattinson is utterly convincing as the Manson-eyed Connie, a manipulative force of nature (alternately mesmerising, repugnant and pathetic) who leaves a trail of destruction in his wake. Go to Full Review

Refreshingly, The Safdie brothers don’t ask viewers to see the alternatively neon and concrete world through Connie’s eyes, but to witness him inflict his will on others. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, a strong Robert Pattinson performance is let down by this blundering thriller that’s an assault on the senses and the mind. Go to Full Review

Stoner J @Stoner 4d Definitely the Safdie bros best movie See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Nov 13 Good Time, released by A24, is one of those films that seems to divide audiences completely—you either find it thrilling and gritty, or, like in this case, you see it as a chaotic misfire with no real sense of direction. From the very beginning, the movie struggles to establish a rhythm that feels engaging or coherent. The opening scene, set in a therapy session, feels long-winded and tedious, setting a tone that never really recovers. Instead of building intrigue or emotional weight, it drags on and leaves you wondering what the point of it all is. The screenplay feels disorganized, jumping from one scene to the next without any real focus or payoff. There’s an attempt at intensity and realism, but it doesn’t land—it just comes across as messy and frustrating to follow. The pacing feels uneven, and the constant back-and-forth energy of the film makes it exhausting rather than exhilarating. It never gives the audience time to connect with the characters or understand why any of it matters. The casting doesn’t help matters either. The lead performance lacks the strength and presence needed to carry a film like this. There’s a difference between portraying desperation and simply appearing lost, and unfortunately, this film leans heavily toward the latter. You’re supposed to feel empathy for the main character’s situation, but instead, you’re left detached and uninterested. A24, as a studio, is known for taking creative risks and catering to a more niche audience—but Good Time feels like one of their more misguided attempts. While some of their projects successfully balance art-house style with emotional substance, this one misses the mark completely. It feels like the filmmakers were so focused on creating an edgy, unconventional tone that they forgot to make it compelling or meaningful. Visually, the film tries to use a gritty aesthetic to give it authenticity, but even that feels overdone and unappealing. The lighting, color grading, and camera work seem designed to make you uncomfortable—but not in a way that adds depth or tension. It’s just hard to watch and harder to stay invested in. In the end, Good Time feels like a waste of potential. What could have been an intense character-driven crime thriller turns into a frustrating, hollow experience. The story lacks heart, the direction feels confused, and the performances fail to ground the chaos in anything relatable. Instead of being memorable for the right reasons, it becomes one of those films you quickly forget—and wish you hadn’t wasted your time on.
