It's not immensely dramatic, and to Winslet's credit, she doesn't yank at the heartstrings so much as gently tug at them. The film is lovely and mostly restrained, anchored by a particularly fine performance from Helen Mirren.

It’s a tear jerk for sure but I sobbed and laughed from beginning to end! Great story, great cast (Helen, Kate and Toni) and perfect flow and timing! I put it in my holiday movie category faves including Home For The Holidays and The Family Stone. I am excited to see what else Kate and her son have to collaborate on together.

Kate Winslet’s directing debut and the script was written by her son. There is an absolute stellar cast but unfortunately their talents were not enough to save this film. Overly sentimental, absolutely chockablock with stereotypes that feel a little lazy and predictable. It all just felt a little contrived and too hard. It just misses the mark for me. Connor’s character felt believable and Winslet’s restrained performance stood out above the others but unfortunately not even the amazing cast can save this one.

I was blown by this film. As a hospice nurse I really appreciated those feelings at the end of life and acting was amazing. Can’t actually understand how anyone can criticise it as I felt was absolutely spot on with all the emotions and family dynamics
