C N M Jun 6 The real stars of this black comedy crime drama are Ellen DeGeneres, followed by Patricia Arquette. The performances of the supporting cast of Don Johnson, Dermot Mulroney, Mary-Louise Parker and Ray McKinnon are also very good. The twist-filled plot, replete with double crosses, keeps the movie interesting and moving. The production quality and Roland Joffé’s direction are excellent. What lets this film down is the lack of real drama or suspense. Audiences had already been treated to Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty and Fargo just a few years earlier, and their expectations would have been raised. Still, the movie is an entertaining watch.
