Adam Nayman Globe and Mail Graceland ... has a ruthlessness rarely attempted by its North American counterparts. Rated: 3/4 May 10, 2013 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader The film feels increasingly exploitative as it becomes more overtly political, illustrating various forms of injustice with blunt, sensationalistic imagery. May 3, 2013 Full Review Richard Kuipers Variety A potent combo of hostage thriller and high-impact morality play. Apr 26, 2013 Full Review Allen Almachar The MacGuffin Graceland is worth recommending as an examination of a character whose moral compass has been realigned. Rated: B Jul 27, 2020 Full Review Marc Mohan Oregonian Sometimes difficult to stomach, the film captures the fragility of normal life in such a hotbed of crime and disorder. Rated: B May 29, 2013 Full Review Jason Anderson The Grid Morales's often brutal morality tale has both a grim intensity and a shattering impact. Audience Member One of the best crime thriller Filipino film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review lars p One plot twist too many but overall a solid film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This one borrows the premise of Kurosawa's "High and Low", but focuses on the man who's daughter is inadvertantly kidnapped and goes very different places from there. Marlon is the chaffeur for a corrupt politician. While driving the politician's daughter and his own, kidnappers strike, but confuse the two girls, killing the politician's daughter and kidnapping Marlon's. Once they realize their mistake, they blackmail Marlon into covering up the mistake in order to collect and ransom and get his daughter back. The kidnapping turns out to be motivated by a lot more than money, and things turn ugly. A fairly nasty and effective thriller. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member First Filipino movie and worthy of a look. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I do believe it did well for a low budget film but it could have been so much better with more money pumped into it and another director with a better grip on making taunt thrillers! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A very dark and gritty Pinoy version of Taken... only the father in this film has no set of skills and he's more fucked up than Neeson. I liked it a lot the first time I saw it but it's too brutal and anti-Pinoy to be shown outside the country.
