Panos Kotzathanasis HanCinema "Grain in Ear" is a very meaningful film that uses a genuine art-house approach in order to present its harsh but very realistic comments Apr 21, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This film is unrecognized but probably one of the most important modern Chinese films. Calm atmosphere really fits to its controversial theme. All scenes but the ending are shot with fixed-camera (camera does not move at all), but what happen in screen are closely designed and beautifully composed. Although it uses really primitive techniques in cinema, what comes out is very poetic and really really suggestive. As shocking as Edward Yang's "Terrorizer." Enthusiasm of the director Lu Zhang hidden behind the piece is admirably strong. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I feel rather ambivalent about this film!
