Conniving Broadway starlet Mida King (Patricia Dane) has plenty of enemies, so when she's found murdered at Grand Central Station, Inspector Gunther (Sam Levene) calls together a slew of suspects for questioning. Mida's shady ex-flame, Turk (Horace McNally), seems the most likely culprit, but when smart-mouthed private eye Rocky Custer (Van Heflin) -- also a suspect himself -- begins to piece together the crime, a few clues that Gunther has overlooked come to light.

Emmett H This is a diverting little B movie. If you like a good whodunit, such as you might expect from Sam Levene and Tom Conway, this one will keep you guessing right to the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Grand old noir. Does well for what it does, think Blobbo. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I've always found Van Heflin an odd movie star, but he actually does alright in the average murder mystery. Van plays a detective investigating the murder of a actress, Patricia Dane. The story is a pretty routine mystery where everyone has a motive, but it's fast paced and reasonably entertaining. Patricia Dane is a particular standout as the murdered Broadway actress who is seen throughout the film in flashbacks. I think I'm going to have to check out more of her films. he film also feature Tom Conway, who is not quite as good as his brother, but who I always enjoy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Frances H Tries to be a Thin Man movie, but it is only a mediocre copy, just like George Sanders brother, who is in this as one of the suspects is only a poor copy of the original.
