In the corner of a small café, Areum types on her laptop. At the tables around her, other customers enact the various dramas of their lives: A young couple charges each other with serious crimes, an old man tries to rekindle a flame with a younger woman, and a narcissistic filmmaker works to put together his next project. Is she merely writing what she hears? Or is she hearing what she has written? As the dramas inside the café unfold, the plants outside grow taller.

Ben Sachs Chicago Reader At this point it feels as though Hong can create a lovely composition or reach psychological insights offhandedly-the films successfully translate his carefree filmmaking process into narrative form. Dec 30, 2019 Full Review Justin Chang Los Angeles Times "Grass," true to its title, is small, sharp and bladelike. Apr 23, 2019 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com One of the best expressions/variations on Hong's usual formula. Rated: 3/4 Apr 19, 2019 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia Although I recognize that there is a certain intimacy and poetic lightness in his story, I'm not so moved by the argument about the link of human expertise. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Miguel Muñoz Garnica El antepenúltimo mohicano We hope that we'll be understood by saying that there can be no more perfect closing image... filled with the joy of human warmth. Audience Member Short and snappy; wretched and moody; fiction and reality created between "you" and "me". Panning from an over-the-shoulder shot without a reverse shot to a shadow drunkenly talking, Hong somehow shows us some different charm this time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Es buena aunue algo confusa, pro sirve para pasar el rato y emocionarte con todo lo enrrededado de la trama Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review nefasto r I am not really sure what "Grass" was, but I can tell you that is not my cup of Soju. (If you want to know what Soju is I'd suggest to google it up, instead of watching this film). Scenes from a bar, almost theatrical, almost connected, definitely in black and white, definitely boring (at least for me) Only sixty-six minutes and was so hard for me reaching the closing titles. I know it was supposed to be profound and artistic, but to me looked like written by an hipster in a Starbucks. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
