Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The lives of these four friends are lived at a monotonous level; they lack the words and perhaps the concepts for pastimes more challenging than drinking, smoking dope, holding aimless arguments and getting into meaningless fights. Rated: 2/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Michael Atkinson Spin For the most part, Gravesend is a rough-hewn, bilious, dead-real trip to Endsville. relieved occasionally by a desperate chuckle. Albert M This was a complete disaster. Horrible directing worse acting. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Michael B I really enjoyed season 1 and season 2 was even better. Great cast. Hopefully we see a season 3. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/10/23 Full Review brendan n Gritty and well done. Gravesend is one of those films I skipped on VHS and it fell into the abyss. I'm happy to have found it via a friend on DVD and it has not lost its appeal. The film was made during the indie movement and Oliver Stone rightly saw a film that warranted viewing. The film works thanks to its setting, not the story. It's the world that built around the characters that influences their actions. The characters are just your average unintelligent group that allows things to escalate without ration thought. You won't see many movies like this film and it's a massive shame it has never found its way to HD. This film deserves to be discovered and deserves a cult following. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Very cool movie. Funny in a cracked, macabre way. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/20/18 Full Review Audience Member In Gravesend, a neighborhood in Brooklyn New York, four friends are sitting in a basement on what seems to be just another Saturday night. But this night turns into a nightmare when one of them called Zane (Tony Tucci) by mistake shoots and kills the older brother of Ray (Michael Parducci). The four decides not to go to the cops, but to get rid off the body themselves, but it seems like everything goes wrong on this night. "Gravesend" is a very low budget 'crime-gone-wrong' drama and is the debut film for Salvatore Stabile, who at the time was 22 years old when he directed it. It has some moments, even if the acting and the directing is not the best. Still this type of story has been done many times before and better.
