ashley h @ashleyhobgood87 12/10/2018 Great Day in the Morning is an excellent film. It is about Owen Pentecost finds himself the owner of a Denver hotel after a card game. Virginia Mayo and Robert Stack give fantastic performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. Jacques Tourneur did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the adventure and drama. Great Day in the morning is a must see. See more s r @ScottR 12/05/2015 Had a hard time getting into this one. See more 11/26/2015 good dark psychological western See more 09/19/2013 Not bad western that loses its way towards the conclusion. Ruth Roman stands out with a good tough down to earth performance, too bad the film doesn't treat her right. See more 08/19/2010 An average western from the period helped by it's unusual setting The film is set in Colorado just before the Civil War. Stack is a adequate lead but his feeble attempts at a Southern accent are quickly dismissed and he spends most of the film sounding like Elliott Ness. Mayo is unremarkable as the good woman, but Roman puts in a memorable and sincere performance as one the town's only bad girl. Tourneur's direction is the real star. His color widescreen photography is excellent. See more Read all reviews
