Critics Consensus

Green Book takes audiences on an excessively smooth ride through bumpy subject matter, although Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen's performances add necessary depth.

Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Yet Farrelly and his cast deliver the cliches with such sincerity and good cheer that the film won me over anyway. Everytime i watch it, it makes me laugh, makes me sad, and makes me feel happy all over again. Great story with great actors, direction and camerawork. Absolutely love it and I watch it 1-2 times a year at least! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Nick R A very well acted, sometimes funny, and all around great story with some good themes and messages. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/04/24 Full Review Santino C Extremely entretaining and funny. Would recomend watching it with family, friends, or by yourself. The movie knows how to be funny while also knowing when to be serious. This movie made me and my mom feel good and thought me how to apreciate people alot more. Deserves all the awards it got. Really under rated. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Fish D This movie is fantastic. Without getting into it, the best parts of this movie has to be the use of contrasting the characters with their stereotypes and working around or against them to define their characters. Another one is how despite both the Doc and Tony are entirely opposites near the start of the movie, they learn to take their friendship slowly, appreciate ones lives and desires, and grow emotionally from growing fond of one another. Their friendship is one of the most fun things to see grow, and its great that they did it well. Only reason it isn't a 5 is some of the panning and landscape shots just feel too long. At least, long enough to where it pulls me out of the movie somewhat. Still though, an amazing watch, go for it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review Read all reviews
