The magical collectibles store that Gizmo calls home has just been destroyed, and the tiny monster finds his way into a newly erected skyscraper. Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and his bride-to-be, Kate (Phoebe Cates), who have previously dealt with Gremlins run amok, discover that Gizmo and an impish legion of reptilian pals are inhabiting the downtown building. The couple tries to stop the creatures from escaping into New York City, but this new batch of beasts might be uncontrollable.

The first Gremlins was a parody/homage to classic Sci-Fi/Monster movies. This time, director Joe Dante looks to parody his own creation, and gives in completely to his love of Looney Tunes, making essentially a live action, off the wall, cartoon spoof of Gremlins. To say Gremlins 2 doesn't take itself seriously would be an understatement, as at one point it even mocks its own premise and on another occasion breaks the “fourth wall”. However, amidst all the chaos and insanity, Gremlins 2 manages to be very entertaining. Just don't expect the original.
