KEVIN C Some college friends head out to a fancy cabin in the woods for a reunion which is interrupted by some strange bright lights in the sky. When they go out to explore what it might be, they'll never be the same again. For a low budget sci-fi/horror this was pretty well done. Story, although simple is told well and keeps your interest. Enjoyed this more than expected. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/17/22 Full Review Audience Member enjoyed this low budget alien movie. creepy at points and not a bad story. acting wasn't terrible as for most low budgets 3/5 overall Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member When it comes to sci-fi horror, its never a good thing when the first act blows the rest of the movie out of the water. Especially when all the first act really consists of is character development via relationship problems and bickering. But while the characters are annoying, they are not entirely unlikable. At least, that is, until the aliens show up. Then by the end of the movie you are just kind of waiting for them to die, rooting for the aliens. Once the sci-fi horror elements begin to occur, this movie becomes a train wreck. And I mean the type where the locomotive bursts into flames and careens off the rails sideways, still sliding and scraping metal for a few miles, taking out cars, power lines and pedestrians. But I digress. There were a couple of unique and inventive ideas scattered throughout, but it wasn't nearly enough to salvage the movie. The pacing is butt-tiring. The aliens look lame. And some of the acting is downright silly, not to mention some of the tediously banal dialog. All in all, its an okay time killer, but it just isn't' scary. Not in the least. Nor convincing, for that matter. But look for ex-VH1 reality star The'la "Rain" Brown, from Flavor of Love and Charm School, in a not bad (considering) opening scene. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Mediocre story, mediocre acting, terrible, terrible special effects. Meh. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow thin story. The characters are boring, the aliens are not very interesting, and the overall camera-work is mediocre. It's a dull slow typical shlock fest. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member One line summary: Bad SFX, bad acting, bad screenplay trump the reasonable camera work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Old friends get together for a weekend in the woods. Sandy and Hayden hit it off immediately, sharing sex and drugs. Michael brought his photographer friend Brian. Robert and Jenny are together, but are bickering. Annie and Glen seem to be unattached. They look at the stars which are very clear out in the middle of nowhere. There are also shooting stars. One lands relatively nearby. Some of them are high, and decide to go find it. Hayden does not come back, so they go looking for him. They find him, a bit worse for the wear. Thing move back toward normal, somewhat, except for Jenny's telling Robert that she is pregnant. Shelly disappears about the same time that the lights go out. The search is on. They find her, and she's a bit garbled in her responses. They decide to leave, but none of their four vehicles will start. Then the elimination derby is on. One after another the aliens take over the minds and wills of the people in the party. Will anyone survive the onslaught? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Cinematography: 7/10 Well done for a low budget film. Sound: 8/10 Not too bad. Acting: 0/10 Michael Cornacchia and Anne Griffin were absolutely terrible. Stacy Jorgensen was also rather bad. The others were unconvincing. Screenplay: 2/10 There are lots of inconsistencies about what the aliens can do. There was a large percentage of the film that was just plain boring. The pointless yelling sequences were very irritating. SFX: 2/10 Amateurish; special effects were laughably bad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
