andy m I first watched this film as a kid in the 70s and loved it I have since watched it a couple of times as an adult and recently got my partner and my 10 yr old daughter to watch it with me and no surprise to me they both loved it so much so that on a trip to Inverness I had to detour to greyfriars kirkyard so they could see John Gray's and bobby's graves. Wonderful film and the fact that it's based on a true story it's well worth watching Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/06/23 Full Review Russell H Depressing story of a dog sleeping on his master's grave. Cute dog, though Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/20/23 Full Review isla s This is an interesting story. Living near to Edinburgh, I was aware of the rough story, having seen the statue of Bobby in the city and having walked through the kirkyard but I hadn't seen any film depicting the story, so this intrigued me. Its a good story - its very much a family friendly film and there's nothing wrong with that, though I did wonder how likely some of the language may have been in the scenes (no swearing present, of course). Its a heartwarming tale that I enjoyed. Of course its a bit sentimental but I wouldn't say its ruined by sentimentality. Its an easy and enjoyable watch and I have to say, the dog portraying Bobby is/was obviously well trained, to do what he does. A nice family friendly watch, I'd recommend this film to anyone interested, yes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A heartfelt movie about a dog who will not leave his late owners' grave. This premise drove the movie and most of the characters are forgettable. The acting is good, the dog did a wonderful job, but the plot seemed slow and bloated with extra tension. If you're a dog lover, I would recommend a viewing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review johann m This 1961 film is about the remarkable veritable story of a Skye terrier named Bobby who used to guard the grave of its dead beloved master in the 19th century for many years, leading to a legal battle between the caretaker of the kirkyard and a restaurant owner, both of whom competed for the dog's affections. The legend of Greyfriars Bobby is one of the best examples of dogs's incredible loyalty and no visit to Edinburgh can be complete without a visit to Greyfriars Kirk, home to the famous dog and the beautiful Greyfriars Bobby Fountain. This heartfelt movie with a perfect balance between sweet and sad will surely move you to bits. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Frances H I loved this flick when I saw it as a child of 11 and loved re-watching it nearly 60 years later. It's one of those wonderful Disney films about animals that Disney did so well, like Old Yeller and Savage Sam. Also much in the vein of Lassie Come Home, which also featured one of the best character actors the British isles ever produced--Donal Crisp!
