Carlos I "Grumpier Old Men" sees the beloved bickering duo of Matthau and Lemmon return, and while the schtick may be getting a little long in the tooth here, or maybe the plot is just not quite up to snuff with its somewhat contrived romantic entanglements, there's still a lot of fun to be had in this one. Their chemistry remains undeniable, and the film delivers enough laughs and heartwarming moments to make it a worthwhile watch for fans of the original. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/03/25 Full Review Blu B It's a bit fustrating because it'svery close to being good actually. At the same token I got a soft spot for it. The acting is actually pretty solid. They did a great job recapturing the chemistry of the first with Jack & Walter. Loren is actually pretty good here suprisingly and has great chemistry with Matthau. Who the heck would've ever thought that. Everyone else isn't bad. The humor is pretty good actually here. It's a step down a bit from the first but it's pretty consistent actually and captures a lot of that charm and laughs of the first for the most part. the cinematography is pretty good to. Lots of funny visual gags and it's great watching the chemistry of the senior cast. The music isn't bad either. It's a mid 90's family movie sounding generic stuff but is charming. The edting is alright. The biggest flaw here is there is like 3-4 different stories going on. The Son/Daughter marriage, Max falling in love, Jack getting back together with his wife, and the fishing subplot. And for most of the film the pacing is half decent. The humor carries a lot of the overstuffed plot. But the end kind of loses momentum with the fishing subplot that hijacks the ending. It feels out of nowhere and takes up a big chunk of the end. It should've just focused on Max finding his love. But for what it's worth it comes pretty close to being good. If your a big fan of the first one, any actors in this, or the director than give this a watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/25 Full Review Taj M Used to watch this as a kid with my grandpa, and just watched for the first time in maybe 25 years. From "ComeonIwannalayya" to "Here's some matches - set yourself on fire," it's still hilarious. I miss movies like this.
