Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com The famous stage actors, husband and wife Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, were Oscar nominated for playing husband and wife in this early talky, essentially a photographed play, based on Ferenc Molnar's popular satire. Rated: B- Oct 4, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member The film was not a popular success at the box office and the actors (Lunt and Fontanne) were Broadway mainstays. It is sort of boorish and about a man who is insecure and suspects his wife of infidelity. He disguises himself as a guardsman to seduce her. All the while the wife knew it was him. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review steve d Cute and well acted. I always like this play a lot and this is a strong version. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member good pre-code early talkie about a show within a show one of shakespeare's favorite story devices Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a lot of love for this film by reviewers but I thought it was a cute tale of a man who disguises his identity presumably to catch his cheating wife. Perhaps it is a bit dated but it is charming in its own way. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A droll, old-school comedy, heavy on witty dialogue.
