Mo Zaltzman is a beloved Hasidic rabbi in a dusty desert town. When his congregation is violently attacked, police quickly arrest a young white nationalist who threatened them in the past, but Rabbi Mo doesn't believe the troubled teen is a killer. Since no one else will investigate, Rabbi Mo becomes the detective. As the bodies pile up, he must learn how to use a gun to battle the real enemy. At the heart of the film is the unexpected bond between the rabbi and the anti-Semite, as well as Mo's looming fear that he won't pull the trigger if he has to... and that he will.

Dennis Harvey Variety Jul 16
The enterprising indie production entertains even as it sends some very mixed messages... Guns & Moses can be accused of implausibility, tonal missteps and sporadic heavy-handedness -- but you can’t say it lacks chutzpah. Go to Full Review

Guns & Moses deserves to be touted as a low-budget, yet mitzvah-inspired homage to “Chinatown,” as it takes antisemitism to the woodshed while standing sentry duty at the Second Amendment. Go to Full Review
Olivia Haynie The Forward Jul 24
The writing is hammy, the dialogue overexpository, and although the cast’s performances are heartfelt, it’s not enough to compensate for cheesy lines … [But] the film is notable for being a positive deviation from the typical portrayal of Jews in movies. Go to Full Review

Scarily relevant about violence against Jews, yet also showcases how authorities leap on antisemitism for disturbing incidents when truths are more complex. Like clergy detectives on British TV, with more shooting, thrilling chase scene, diverse tunes. Go to Full Review
Carla Hay Culture Mix Jul 20
Despite a few stumbles and some corny dialogue, Guns & Moses is an absorbing murder mystery with a rabbi becoming an amateur detective in a case involving antisemitism and environmental concerns. The investigation scenes are better than the action scenes. Go to Full Review

“Guns & Moses” (2025) won’t be a blast for moviegoers looking for a Jewish vigilante who takes out the white nationalist hate group that allegedly attacked his congregation. Go to Full Review

Rhys L. Williams Sep 26 Excellent script, top-tier talent, expert cinematography, numerous plot twists - - loved every minute of this film. Congratulations to director and co-producer Sal Litvak! See more Marge Sep 18 What a moving film, especially since we saw it the evening after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. See more Cynthia Sep 12 Good acting, good choices of actors fast-moving. Good guys vs. bad guys. I wish it had been better advertised so more people would have come. See more Suzy D Sep 12 We loved this movie. Lots of action, oits of surprises and lots of family joy. See more Marc J Sep 12 Interesting story but not a fan of needing guns to solve problems. See more Irene H Sep 12 A bit slow at times. Either the theater had bad sound or your characters needed a crisper speaking voice. I liked the ending where they stood up and fired the guns! Thank God it showed our strengths. I'm sick and tired of men in black, shuffling their feet in movies. And I was surprised at the ending! I didn't think the big buy was in on it. Alright! See more Read all reviews
