Andrea Thompson A Reel of One's Own [Manolo Munguia] packs more scares just from putting a group of people in a single location and letting us watch them talk and go on their electronics than most filmmakers do with every effect in the world at their disposal. Dasha F One of the most brilliant films I've seen in a while. Fantastic story, I loved every bit of it. Despite the film being clearly low budget and being set in one single location, I enjoyed all the dialogue and it was very well written. It honestly was psychologically scary at the end. I'm probably going to rematch the film sometime soon, it's that great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/13/23 Full Review manolo m Highly recommended if you´re interested in hackers, new technologies and scifi. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Character-driven thriller about a group of computer geeks at a dinner party (*SPOILER ALERT*) who learn of an augmented reality app, supposedly among other items in a Wikileaks folder entitled, "Insurance," that allows them see 30 seconds into the future. They learn how to manipulate this app via coding to increase this to, eventually, 12 days. They also ascertain that they can change the values in order to see into the past as well. What they see makes them wish they hadn't looked! It's got twists and kept my interest throughout. It's a French film with English overdubs, so you don't have to read it. Plenty of references to actual events; Wikileaks, Assange, Snowden, ect. and emerging technologies and interesting commentary about the dark side of the internet, social media, and artificial intelligence. I found it fascinating. If you like brainy thrillers, give it a shot! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
