Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Einbinder is not so much an unreliable narrator as one prone to change your perspective mid-riff. Her self-deprecation comes with deceptively sharp edges, and they’re accentuated by her expressively physical performance. Jun 20, 2024 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked Everything Must Go can be off-putting. We don’t understand why these aesthetic choices were made, and though her stories are candid, her affectations keep her from seeming particularly vulnerable in telling them. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Clare Martin Paste Magazine Einbinder’s silly self-seriousness is the glue that holds the special together. Her impressions are plentiful and hilarious, as are the facial expressions she deploys to sell a punchline. Rated: 8/10 Jun 21, 2024 Full Review Sean L. McCarthy Decider Einbinder? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/05/25 Full Review Soothing B I was going to do a whole rant, but I guess what I'll say is it did not seem honest or authentic. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/25 Full Review L P If you're expecting a standard comedy show - a comedian, a mic, maybe a stool, and that's it - you'll be incorrect. It felt more like a one-woman show mixed with improv. There was music, different little skits, different voices, curtain action, it was a lot. There were moments I chuckled but most of the time I was cringing and wondering why people were laughing. Then again, comedy is subjective and not everyone is meant to find everything funny. You know how you can tell if someone grew up fat, bullied, "othered", [insert years long, traumatizing experience(s)] as a kid because of how quick wit and funny they are? Yeah, that wasn't this. This felt more like an intellectual pursuit of comedy without authenticity & vulnerability added into it. Don't get me wrong, I love a good current politics, intellectual, comedian. However, I think with all the extra production and things added to it, it just didn't land here. I could see the jokes landing more on a tv show or movie than a comedy special. I think there is definitely potential for Hannah Einbinder to be a good stand-up comedian but I think in order for that to become reality, she needs to loose all the theatrics (it felt more like a crutch/safety blanket) and be more authentic and vulnerable. It just felt like she used all the theatrics to try and distance herself emotionally from the material. But then again what do I know? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/24/25 Full Review D L Many parts are brilliant, with a few exceptions Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/31/25 Full Review M P I sort of stumbled on this, and watched with no expectations. This seemed somewhere between a standup set and a performance piece. Overall very clever... some sections really funny, some reflective, a Few hmmmm. It wasn't a joke every 20 seconds like Nikki Glazer, but a really good performance. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/31/25 Full Review Evelyn O I was really looking forward to this special because Hannah is so great in Hacks, but Everything Must Go was really not fun. It was almost like the whole time she was gazing into a mirror trying to look and sound cool. I fast-forwarded a few times, hoping it would get better but no. No real comedy or personal vulnerability anywhere. I am still a real fan of her comedy and acting work in Hacks--just feel like she can do a lot better on her own if she'll just get out of her own way.
