Lauren Carroll Harris Guardian Hannah Gadsby spins her own life story into a clever, raging and confronting spiel against misogyny, homophobia and even the tired old tropes of comedy itself. Aug 5, 2019 Full Review Ashley Hoffman TIME Magazine When Gadsby wrenches out her pain on stage, she reveals her strength, rage, and yes, winning humor. Nov 20, 2018 Full Review Hannah Strong Little White Lies Gadsby is tired of censoring her own pain for the sake of making audiences feel comfortable. Nanette is a testament to this. It's time to make audiences feel uncomfortable in order to wake them up. Sep 24, 2018 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut The Netflix "comedy special" Nanette is a televised version of Hannah Gadsby's award-winning "stand up" stage show from 2017. It is so eye-opening, personal and encouraging that it feels unfair to squeeze it into a nutshell. Rated: 5/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review Angela L. Harmon The NitPic Gadsby realized that turning her pain into comedy actually forced her to create a specific narrative of her own life that she repeated night after night until it became her reality. Dec 11, 2019 Full Review Catherine Capellaro Isthmus (Madison, WI) Gadsby grabs your attention with jokes and then slowly and expertly peels back layers to reveal a deep well of shame and anger. sandy s Couldn’t stop crying for the last few minutes which (of course) never experienced in my life with stand-up comedy shows. And.. why not? 야 여기 와서 별점 테러하는 인생들도 애잔하다 진짜 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Audience Member I seriously can't believe anyone reviewed this as 5 stars. If I could give it zero I would. It's like being trapped in a woke Ted talk with the drama teacher from high school who's trying to be "cool" and "hip" and "woke". It's not funny. I found it depressing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/25 Full Review Ebiere O Absolutely hilarious. She has a depth to her that makes her story telling rich. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review Aimee S Half a star is honestly too much. I'm guessing at least some of the negative reviews are from people who are anti-LGBTQIA+, or anti-women in comedy, or maybe even anti-women. Maybe they aren't interested in the neurodivergent or in hearing about anyone's trauma. I assure you that that is not the case for me. With that being said, this "comedy" special is painfully, PAINFULLY unfunny. It's not comedy. It's a lecture, maybe. It's a rant, possibly. It's someone with a massive victim complex trauma-dumping on stage and charging people to view it, definitely. I am a true fan of stand-up and can almost always respect the craft of the comedian, even if I'm not a fan of their particular style. I cannot do that here. This was hot garbage. 0/10, do not recommend. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Ishan M I watched this because it had 100% rating, I've lost faith in RT after this. Hannah Gadsby is not a comedian Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Daniel L Yikes! I’ve had more fun at the dentist. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Read all reviews
