Audience Member Hard Gun (Mue prab puen hode) is a 1996 Thai martial arts action film starring Panna Rittikrai, Jan Janmulltree, Thunyaluk Rarchatha and Tony Jaa. It was directed by Prapon Petchinn. It was written by Nueng Nuengnued. It was produced by Pachpunna Productions. The policeman Pitak (Jan Janmulltree) switches from a band of thugs. Only the leader (Panna Rittikrai) survived and vows revenge. With the help of his protégé (Tony Jaa), he sets out to terrorize the cop. Vision wrote: "the music adds a Thai touch to the film. Tony Jaa reprises his persona in his 2nd feature film. Tony Jaa plays the villain. This time, they run from him. What an advancement in his martial arts on screen. Convincing villains, procedural police and convincing friendships. Two and a half fries!" Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/25/25 Full Review Audience Member The cover is very misleading. Jaa doesn't even fight until the end. It's mostly a slapstick comedy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member ;ong bak' star tony jaa= good actioner Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a dirt cheap movie in the vein of old Hong Kong (Drunken Master for example). Trying to get by on cheesy comedy (often slap-stick) and occasional violence and occasional soapboxing. The soundtrack is bootlegged from movies such as Goldeneye and Mortal Kombat, and Joe Satriani songs from "Flying In A Blue Dream". Tony Jaa appears as... a glorified extra, although he has a lengthy fight at the very end. This is one of his first screen debuts and he does pop on screen even here. I think one word sums this flick up: retarded. Every character, all the voice acting, the story, everything. "Hard Gun" is a piece of shit. But the English dub is nothing short of legendary. It is one-of-a-kind. Utterly mind-blowingly stupid, far more than any other dub on the planet. It is therefore a new and most prized possession in my dvd collection. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member not bad, some good comedy moments and decent action Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Don’t be fooled by Tony Jaa’s name on the cover. His role in this film is largely minor. Moreover, the movie is pretty bad. It has its share of action and comedy, but much of it is lame. The story seems to go all over the place and never fully congeals together. Characters are pretty shallow, despite the main character’s constant flashback scene. But the biggest crime is that the movie is very cheap; iffy photography, iffy writing and acting, and cheap production value. They even stole music from the 007 film “GoldenEye,” what the heck?! On the plus side, the film is exceptionally hilarious when you turn the English dubbing on. Overall, it’s a cheap and silly film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
