While Sugita's impressionistic style of storytelling requires a great deal of patience and empathy on the part of the viewer, his film is nonetheless enjoyable, an ode to the little moments in life that give us the strength to keep going. What Sachi needs is not our morbid curiosity but our empathy. With her discreet and delicate style, Sugita achieves this goal.
