nightbreed9987 . GG Allin was the last true rock star to ever live and this documentary documenting his final year is the proof. Todd Phillips couldn't have done him more justice just showing us what kind of maniac he truly was and what he could have been capable of in his later years if not tragically taken on that final night after his last show. GG Allin may fade from our memories as time goes on but he will never be forgotten. R.I.P. Jesus Christ Allin. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/14 Full Review Audience Member OK documentary about a crazy group of individuals. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member When you get right down to it, GG was an incredibly average human being. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member After hearing only good things about this documentary, I finally watched it, and after watching it, I wanted my time back. G.G. Allin is quite possibly the most nihilistic, cynical, misanthropic punk rocker of all time, fueled by hate towards everyone and everything. But he has no actual message, no purpose to his art, and is nothing but a shallow shock value gimmick. Having a band called the Murder Junkies goes well with such a gimmick. They can fight on stage and he can fist himself and throw shit into the audience, but they are just as fake as the posers they fight against. I was hoping for at least one memorable quote, something intelligent from Allin, but no,nothing. For someone so anti-establishment, and for a guy who promised to kill himself, he died like a rock and roll stereotype: from a heroin overdose after partying way too hard. In '93, after he died, one man took parts of his gimmick and utilized them much better, and more profitable. That man was Brian Warner, and he turned himself into Marilyn Manson. To conclude: this documentary is boring and Allin is nothing more than a gimmick. Also, his music is terrible. Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle G.G. Allin ends up coming across as a random explosion of useless spectacle -- despite his unfocused rants against "the system," he's a rebel showman first and a subversive second. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 16, 2002 Full Review TV Guide Filmmaker Todd Phillips deserves credit for having the stomach to have spent enough time with Allin to make this documentary.
