A gun is pointed to Kat's (Aaron Jakubenko) head. It's his gun. Or at least it was after he escaped a chain gang and stole it. Luckily for him though, it's not fully loaded. But how many bullets are left? He can't quite remember. And now, with an unknown assailant pulling the trigger, Kat is forced to recall exactly what happened to each bullet. While the empty rounds click away, memories of wild animal attacks, run-ins with an impulsive police officer (Ryan Kwanten), a down-to-earth arms dealer, and his ex-lover (Melanie Zanetti) come flooding back. As the pressure mounts, Kat must figure out how many rounds are left and try to devise a plan to escape... one more time.

Head Count is a superbly-made piece of cinema, with a well-cast, talented actor at its core. The scenes are expertly shot, and it remains stylistically fun to watch throughout, which is the ultimate point of an action-comedy. Go to Full Review

Smart, slick, and relentless neo-noir thriller chucks it's anti-hero into a series of misadventures. Has the strong sense that everything is at the mercy of a cosmic comedy of errors Go to Full Review

Brilliantly written thriller that feels like you are watching a Tarantino film written by the Coen Brothers. Creative in every sense... brilliant. Go to Full Review

Lilli R 11/24/2024 If I could give this movie a negative 5 stars I would. This was by far the worst movie I’ve seen in a very long time. Don’t be fooled by the high percentage and scores on rotten tomatoes. This movie is trash. NOT ANYTHING to compare to Tarantino like some of these reviews claim. The acting is not believable AT ALL. The acting is deplorable. I was not thrilled or entertained watching this. I want that hour and 30 minutes of my life back. Seriously do not bother watching this movie unless you wanna waste precious time. See more Emma H 11/13/2024 I wish there were more movies like this, it has to fall under the ‘irreverent humour’ category . It’s low budget and simplicity could put you off but the story and the small details that make it special. See more Jerod S @jeroduptown 07/20/2024 I'm a Kwanten fan, but he was given a dopey character in Head Count. It's a piece meal story of an escapee that doesn't really ever gel. See more Pete W @Pete-W 03/12/2024 Surprisingly good! Cinematography excellent for this small indie fiilm. See more Les N 01/08/2024 Good movie. Recommended See more Andy B @AndyB21 01/06/2024 An aimless thriller which isn't nearly as clever as it thinks it, mistaking random quirkiness and ludicrous coincidences for good writing.
