People tend to envy Dorie (Kay Lenz), who seems happy on the surface. She is a beautiful and highly successful model, and is also dating big-shot director Adam (Jordan Christopher). Still, she feels strangely unfulfilled. This changes when she meets Ford (Clu Gulager), a blind but self-sufficient literature professor who she starts to fall for. But Ford himself is not immediately receptive, and must open his heart to love despite his protective nature and previous failings with women.
