Reviews 90% Audience Score 100+ Ratings Ben (Gary Farmer) and The Man (Stephen Ouimette) are homeless during an icy Canadian winter. Their only hope for salvation is an unopened space heater -- still in its box -- that they share. The problem is they don't have anywhere to plug it into. They decide to trek to a shopping mall to redeem their sole possession for cash. It's a negligible sum, but the idea motivates them. What follows is a journey to the mall, in which they meet a plethora of quirky characters. Read More Read Less

Audience Member This is a great small arthouse film, love this movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Are these guys actually homeless, because they are pretty damn convincing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member For a Winnipeg film, I was very impressed with Heater. Shot on a low budget (and without permits), the cinematography and captured landscape is visually appealing. Great performances by the leading actors and a great story make this a pleasant movie to watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Very odd, yet addictive. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Heater is all about the performance. Gary Farmer does another amazing job. Loved this movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I've always been afraid of Winnipeg in winter, and now I know why.... This is Samuel Beckett with tire chains doing cinema verite. One of my favourite performances by the ubiquitous Farmer--check out his body language when the Mounties "offer him a lift", his facial expressions and the way he fumbles with his cigarette (people outside of Canada may not be aware that when the cops give Natives rides in winter, they're sometimes one-way trips...). As gripping as frostbite. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
