SICKS6SIX S Glen Fords first starring role. A film set during the depression with overtones of Grapes 🍇 of Wrath and the Oklahoma dust bowl. Ford sets out to start a new life in Arizona but things don't go t plan. A good supporting cast and a clever story. A bit predictable but still worth watching all the same. I see the audience scored it at only 20% perhaps a Steven Seagal film might have been more up their street as this as far away from a shoot them up and crash the car film as it's possible to get. Taken from book of the same name. Many stars of the fture are in it and Ford only received fourth billing as up until now no one knew his name. It's more than a rainy tuesday afternoon film but it's not the Saturday night main feature. Friday with a pizza 🍕 I'd say. . . Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Audience Member Routine programmer of note as Glenn Ford's screen debut but little else. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review kevin w A unabashed Hollywood B-movie, whose story means much less than other machinations that corporate empire had up its sleeve. So the story is rushed and spat out simply to get it out of the way, not that its destination can't be worked out within the first five minutes, implausible as it is. Kids hobo it across the United States to a dream of a farm where they'll live the good life. The most interesting thing about the piece is the look at regular life glimpsed behind the story, like what it was like riding trains. We get early peeks at Glenn Ford and Richard Conte, both looking like kids playing at being adults. As entertainment finally, a rotten tomato, but seen historically ... well, its better then.
