Jay Weissberg Variety Janga's spare, evocative study of a hoodlum unexpectedly in touch with the natural world offers numerous rewards. charles s A lovely and poignant short film about a very sick young boy afraid of dying and the hospital attendant who befriends him and, through story and fantasy, eases his passage. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member There is no better example of a meaningful short film Anders Walter's Helium. The cast does a phenomenal job at portraying Walter's vision of how powerful hope can be in life and how much of a difference it can make. Not only did Helium deserve to win the Oscar for best live action short film, it is the best short film I have personally ever seen. Bottom line, everyone should take twenty three minutes out of there day to watch this transcendent piece of Danish cinema. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Bámulatos rövidfilm az álmodozásról, a szeretetr?l, és arról, hogy Dánia is tud jó filmet csinálni. Külön kiemelném a két f?szerepl?, Casper Crump és Pelle Falk Krusaek játékát. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A well deserved Oscar as best Short Film! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member An 2014 Oscar winner for short film from Denmark. Bitter-sweet. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This was my favorite of the Oscar nominated live-action shorts, and it ended up winning. A terminally ill little boy name Alfred (Pelle Falk Krusbæk) admits he doesn't really believe in the heaven that his family tells him about. The hospital's new janitor, Enzo (Casper Crump), forms a connection with the boy. The man has overlooked skills as a storyteller and spins the tale of a different fantasy land called Helium where Alfred will go when he dies. There are several dream sequences with imaginative effects as Alfred is given joy and hope in his final days. Thanks to a kind-hearted nurse Enzo is able to finish his description of Helium. A touching alternative to accepted religious views of an afterlife from Denmark. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
