Critics Consensus

Hell Fest might give less demanding horror fans a few decent reasons to scream, but it's neither clever nor frightening enough to leave much of an impression.

Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review 11/16/2018
It wasn't anything new, it was old riffs done in a way that was actually quite efficient.... The nastiest is the right level of nasty, the silliness is the right level of silly. Go to Full Review

Plotkin's relentless button-pushing, coupled to the script's cringe-inducing yooftalk, instead mark Hell Fest as unmistakably the work of middle-aged execs trying to jab suggestible teenagers back into cinemas. Go to Full Review

They did this 40 years ago, and better, in 'Halloween.' It's getting really, really tired. Go to Full Review

I can’t recommend seeing Hell Fest in theaters, but it might be worth watching at home when it gets to Netflix. Even then, you will probably enjoy making fun of it with friends more than actually watching it for scares. Go to Full Review

Hell Fest is not a well-rounded film, but it meets expectations by steeping the viewer in spooky imagery and squeezing some suspense out of its premise making it a worthwhile October watch. Go to Full Review

The movie remains satisfying because it's not trying to approach the slasher genre from a place of irony or nostalgia, as many have in recent years. Go to Full Review

Poor rip off of Final Destination meets Halloween. Bad acting, bad writing. Just bad. See more Frank J Apr 27 Keeps you guessing what is real or not. I love every minute of this movie and the lighting is so beautiful too. See more Mike E Apr 16 This movie deserves more credit than it gets. It’s not a modern day art house masterpiece but, it is a pretty damn good slasher. The characters are fun, it has some good gore and suspense, the whole set design was pretty awsome! I can honestly say I might rank this one slightly higher than Haunt! See more Read all reviews
