Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting Cognetti cleverly expands the mythology while returning to the atmospheric foreboding and scares that made the original film such a cult favorite in the first place. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 25, 2023 Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian It isn’t just Cognetti’s solid deployment of the backstory that impresses; he and cinematographer Josh Layton also show a devious command of camera mechanics, vital to the subjective found-footage experience. Rated: 4/5 Oct 25, 2023 Full Review Bee Delores B-Sides & Badlands Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor centers its story largely on those creepy clown mannequins — a genius move that allows filmmaker Stephen Cognetti to blanket the entire film in suffocating dread. Rated: 4/5 Jul 2, 2024 Full Review Josh Goller Spectrum Culture Cognetti has proven with Origins that, in an allegiance to and expansion of his source material, he’s not simply beating a dead house. Jun 4, 2024 Full Review Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast A return to form for the long-running Hell House LLC franchise, The Carmichael Manor is scary as hell. Rated: 4/5 Nov 27, 2023 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast The fourth film is the best in the franchise as Cognetti strikes a good balance between jump scares, mythology, and character development. The computer stalking bit with Rebecca and Chase's final video are masterful scare sequences. Rated: 4/5 Nov 21, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Aidan F. Scary, creepy, and really expands further on the lore of Abaddon. I’m a huge fan of the original Hell House, but this one gives it a run for its money. The new location was much needed and it’s a very creepy spot for a found footage movie. The ending was very creepy and overall I thought they did a great job. They use a very Sisnister-esque found footage part with old footage from the original owners of the house and I really enjoyed those segments. There are new and original scares and O think any fans of the original will really appreciate this entry. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/24/25 Full Review E S. One of the creepiest movies I have seen in a loooong time. Really hits. Best of the series as far as I’m concerned! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/23/25 Full Review Noah D Credit where credit is due, Carmichael Manor unnerved me enough that I had trouble sleeping after. Cognetti is good at found footage directing and crafting an atmosphere in that environment. I just wish they had taken a lesson from the reactions to this before they made the new film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/22/25 Full Review Ivana J The main actress is very annoying. But the movie is not too bad. It has it’s scary moments. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/16/25 Full Review Audience Member Pacing was awful and the script sucked. Acting was bad at times and the news reporting was great at the beginning and slowed down way too much to not at all. Still dragging it from the original Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/13/25 Full Review James B While it has loose connections to the whole story Hell House LLC Origins still proves to be scary and a fantastic prequel.
