Mate P Herbie is George Lucas (and Paul Golding) studying lighting and angles, which are two core elements of cinematography. Having seen many of his later films I wouldn't have thought he made something without a story or characters, but apparently he did. The jazzy score is really fun and gives a light tone to the film. The editing is great, but the emphasis is on cinematography, which is awesome, especially how you start recognizing angles by the "third act".
