Peter Stack San Francisco Chronicle This action cartoon from Universal has definite appeal for fans of the two heroes and features the voices of Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless, who play the characters in the hit TV shows. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 2, 2018 Full Review Marc Bernardin Entertainment Weekly Even its greatest strength -- the assured voice work of Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless, reprising their TV roles -- only reminds us of what's unforgivable about Olympus: It's not nearly as vivid a cartoon as the live-action series. Rated: D Oct 2, 2018 Full Review TV Guide Staff TV Guide The film's worst problem is the mediocre nature of the animation. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 2, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

SkyRo P "Hercules and Xena: The Battle for Mount Olympus" was an animated film that captured my imagination as a child. I was particularly drawn to the fierce warrior princess Xena, whose character I adored. My enthusiasm for the entire Hercules series only heightened my anticipation for the film's release. Upon viewing the movie, I noticed that its animation style deviated from the norm, offering a fresh perspective. Each character was thoughtfully designed, remaining faithful to the abilities established in the original series. Although I refer to it as a movie, it’s important to remember that it was based on the television series. Reflecting on the choice of animation, it became clear that this film was made long before CGI reached its current sophistication. The limitations of the time meant that animating the film was the best way to bring these epic tales to life with the depth they deserved. I was particularly captivated by Xena’s storyline and the thrilling battles set on Mount Olympus. The dynamic partnership between Hercules and Xena made for an exhilarating experience. In my opinion, this film stands out as one of the best animated features outside of the realms of Disney or DreamWorks. I relished the action, heroism, and the strong female lead, as well as the entire narrative that unfolded, especially the portrayal of the gods and goddesses. Greek mythology has an undeniable allure and consistently engages audiences. Whether or not one believes in the myths, stories involving Greek deities tend to resonate well. I highly recommend giving this film a watch! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/05/24 Full Review Audience Member The greatest animated 01 hour: and 20 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member my best childhood in vhs Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I never watched Hercules: The Legendary Journeys or Zena: Warrior Princess when they 1st came out until I started hearing alot of talk about them at the time so I decided to check out both shows & I was BORED out of my mind.I came across Hercules And Xena - The Animated Movie: The Battle For Mount Olympus on VHS at the local thrift shop & thought, why not? It's only $1 I never knew they made them into an animated movie where they teamed up together & even though I HATED the TV shows I thought maybe I'd like the cartoon but I HATED this movie as well.I watched exactly 25 minutes & just could NOT watch anymore.I was BORED out of my mind. The entire 25 minutes I was able to sit through, the only thing on my mind was what other movies I could be watching.I just could not focus & didn't care.I think the only people that are going to like this movie are fans of the Hercules/Xena TV shows. The only thing I did like about Hercules And Xena - The Animated Movie: The Battle For Mount Olympus was that they used the actor's voices from the original TV shows & not just anybody's voices. This movie's definitely getting donated back to the thrift shop Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Quickly lost interest in this animated adventure about Hercules and Xena attempting to recapture Mt. Olympus from the Titans. 1990's era animation still terrible to watch today. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Hercules and Xena collaborate to free Mount Olympus from a takeover by the Titans. Indicative of the overall popularity of the series to venture out into a direct-to-video animated venture. Features a plot possibly too ambitious for the small screen. Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless lend their voices for their characters and Lawless also sings a couple of the songs. Strictly for fans of the two series.
