Reuniting the director, writer and stars of Forrest Gump, Here is an original film about multiple families and a special place they inhabit. The story travels through generations, capturing the most relatable of human experiences. Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Castaway, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Contact, Back to the Future) directs from a screenplay by Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Killers of the Flower Moon, Dune, A Star is Born) and him. Told much in the style of the acclaimed graphic novel by Richard McGuire on which it is based, Tom Hanks and Robin Wright star in a tale of love, loss, laughter and life, all of which happen right Here.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

While it's heartening to see director Robert Zemeckis return to humanistic storytelling, Here's stagey conceit and overabundance of spectacle rob it of emotional resonance.

Adam Nayman Reverse Shot Here, adapted by Zemeckis with Eric Roth from Richard McGuire’s acclaimed 2014 graphic novel, is as flavorless and fungible as a freshly packaged loaf of Wonder Bread. Nov 21, 2024 Full Review Rex Reed Observer 'Here' is a soulless, meandering bore, proving that nostalgia and tech tricks can’t save a story with nowhere to go. Rated: 1/4 Nov 8, 2024 Full Review Meredith G. White Arizona Republic While Hanks and Wright pull off the impossible, emoting somewhat effectively despite the overuse of de-aging technology, it wasn't enough to save this film from feeling gimmicky instead of genuine. Rated: 3/5 Nov 3, 2024 Full Review Holly Hunt Exclaim! Here pushes the boundaries of filmmaking yet fails to become a worthwhile watch. Rated: 5/10 Nov 21, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Disjointed, tiresome and boring episodic experimental film. Rated: C- Nov 21, 2024 Full Review Michael Cook KLRT-TV It's constant back and forth in time means you can't really connect to anybody. All the jumping back and forth in the timeline also means you kinda get bored. Rated: 5/10 Nov 15, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

John Great movie! Tom Hanks never disappoints with his acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Zoe F It wasn’t a waste of a theater trip, necessarily, but it was a weird watch. The whole thing might’ve worked a lot better as a play. There’s some overacting and cringe moments as the movie tries to be way too many things at once. Quite a few very broad themes done too quickly to be truly impactful— it all leaves the viewer asking “okay?” It feels like it’s trying very hard to be deep and show off, but just falls flat. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Travis I liked the message they delivered on life and how each generation is different but disliked how the move was only in a living room, no difference in screen view is hard to sit and watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Scott J Cool idea, poor execution. I sat through it all but should have walked out. Terrible waste of my time and money. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Robbie H Amazing movie!! Truly not understanding so many bad reviews.. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Brian W Excellent film with a simple, but brilliant conceit. Zemeckis is one of the greats. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
