      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Here Comes the Boom benefits from Kevin James's genial presence but the film doesn't deliver enough laughs to live up to its title -- or enough satisfying plot to make up the difference.

Ufc GREATEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review TJ B A feel good, action packed romp, with a great cast and a classic motto. " don't give up" Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review Paul S Forget the poor reviews. This is a good, old fashioned feel good movie. It might be by the numbers, but the actors all commit fully, and it builds to a predictable but enjoyable climax. Go enjoy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Martin B This type of movie is where professional critics need to be ignored. You have to take it in the context of the genre and not judge it like you would Gone With the Wind. It passed the goose bump test for me. A simple, corny sports related feel good movie but what's wrong with escaping into unfettered nobility and optimism every now and then? Cast was perfection. No Ocar's here but they fit the rolls perfectly. James worked his butt off on this flick. The ending ridiculous but who cares it's where the goose bumps were unavoidable and that was good enough for me. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/08/23 Full Review Jeffrey M Here Comes the Boom was an okay movie. I finished just now and I thought it was okay. Here Comes the Boom has humor, but the humor is said in such a formal way that it is not funny. Here Comes the Boom was a really nice movie. My favorite actor was a guy named Henry Winkler who, fun fact, was in Happy Days ( even though I never watched Happy Days ). A lot of this actors joined Kevin James for Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. This was an okay movie. I give it a 64%. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Karl w Forget the naysayers that think this movie is a formulaic movie. This is all original with a multicultural cast, each with a distinct personality and contribution. Designed for pure entertainment, not within the purview of reviewers who have lost the suspension of disbelief by having watched too many movies from a critical view. This is a movie for the community to join together to feel and achieve dreams. Hilarious and subtle, it ain't Shakespeare, but each role is perfectly-acted. Kevin James can look back on this timeless movie with pride. My daughter laughed at Winkler's antics, fell in love with the romance, and learned that there are things worth fighting for. Would anyone fight for music? You bet, and if you don't think so you cannot read the space between the notes. Highly recommend. Roxana Hadadi Punch Drunk Critics The way James, Rutten, and Winkler connect is engaging and amusing, and Here Comes the Boom is moderately successful on that chemistry alone. And if something can crack my cold, cold heart, that's a victory. Rated: 3/5 Jan 9, 2017 Full Review William Goss Empire Magazine Ultimately, the film is much too derivative to stand (and deliver) on its own, but at its best moments, it proves amiably average, chiefly due to James' natural charms. Dec 15, 2013 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times Couldn't Kevin have raised the money by selling hard drugs or trafficking underage women? The closing scenes would, under those circumstances, have seemed only marginally less peculiar. Rated: 2/5 Nov 9, 2012 Full Review Cory Woodroof Lumination Network Give the film a try. It'll win you over before the credits roll. Feb 11, 2022 Full Review Cate Young Thirty, Flirty + Film "Here Comes The Boom isn't the best movie in the world (Creed and Creed II will get you beatings and a great story) but it's sentimental, gripping and funny." Mar 19, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com I have no qualms about saying that anyone who appreciates Kevin James will unquestionably appreciate Here Comes the Boom.
