After sectarian violence claims the life of his wife, Aparna (Hema Malini), Saketh becomes a Hindu extremist, and, although Muslims are responsible for his wife's death, he begins to blame Gandhi and his tolerant approach to religious differences. Kapil K For all those thinking - Once upon a time in America or Scar face or the passage to India are the best vintage factions to a violence back ground movie, think again. This gun hoisted - professional piece of artwork is the pinnacle of art and craftsman ship that was not understood for the crack of audiences from 2000. But it'll stand. Perhaps until 2100, only time can tell. It sums India in it's 1940's for you in best way. A cinematic and musical Master Piece from India. If you are aware of the great man Mahatma Gandhi, you most certainly and definitely can watch this. 9.5 / 10 Great work! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Sathish K A misunderstood masterpiece by tamil cinema that failed to get recognition Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Priyan B Overlong but nice 8.5/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Manoharan k Absolutely awesome. A brilliant composition from Ilayaraja. A great frame work from Kamal haasan. A solid 4.5 off 5. Must watch of all times. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review jordan m Perhaps I should've went into this with a different mindset. I was aware that it was a 3-hour long foreign movie, but I don't think I was truly ready to sit and read subtitles for 3 hours. Roughly an hour into it I realized that a whole lot of what they were showing could've been done as a montage, making the excessive length a huge flaw. There was also something inherently uninteresting in knowing this was historical fiction and a depiction of the fringe belief that Gandhi actually sucked, and seeing the guy change his mind almost as soon as he met the man was exasperating. I will say that they seemed to make good use of their budget to have managed to shoot so many different scenes without any of them looking significantly worse than the others. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A masterpiece by Kamal Haasan, an Indian cinema legend who has starred in more than 200 films, but this time as a writer-director. In his sophomore directorial Haasan takes on Indian partition and Gandhi's role in it. The film is written with nuance and directed with an eye for details. Well shot and staged, Haasan proves himself as someone who knows his craft. The conceit is interesting enough to justify the long runtime. Though I understood the point of the surreal moments in the film I didn't really care for it. Haasan himself stars as the lead with an ensemble to envy for ages. Everyone does their part well, especially Haasan and Vasundhra Das. Overall Hey Ram is an experience rather than a film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
