Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine The story of how a wicked city racketeer (Robert Montgomery) was converted by country innocence (Maureen O'Sullivan). A great deal brighter and better than it may sound. David K It's a charming movie with a great cast. I'm still trying to figure out how Robert Montgomery has faded from modern memory. I grew up watching his daughter, Elizabeth, play Samantha the witch on "Bewitched" and I often think of her when watching him. The family resemblance is noteworthy, As to the movie, the concept of a criminal on the lam hanging out in the country wasn't all that new. Montgomery and the radiant O'Hara are the centerpieces and the glue of the film. Mickey Rooney has a significant role early on in his long career, soon to be catapulted with "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Of course, he still laughs like an animated donkey, a habit he'd get over in later years. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Steve D This horrid script was Oscar nominated???? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Tasso D This movie did not teach me how to create a hide out 😭😭😭💀💀💀😡😡😡😡 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review susan f Okay, nothing in this 1934 comedy is fresh, but everything is right, especially Robert Montgomery's performance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Grade B, lightweight movie. Slow moving in parts. I always like Edward Arnold, he has a lot of presence just by being in in the room. And, a very young Mickey Rooney. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member GREAT MOVIE.
