Kambole Campbell One Room With A View High Fantasy has a great concept, but it's unfortunately poorly executed and often exhausting. It's frustrating to see a film this inventive and this willing to dive into these arguments lose itself along the way. Rated: 2/5 Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Adam Nayman Cinema Scope High Fantasy is an inventive and entertaining South African feature that cleverly yokes heavy subject matter to an agile DIY aesthetic. Sep 28, 2017 Full Review Nella Fitzgerald Shadow and Act High Fantasy's unassuming, yet piercing examination of race, class and gender embeds Bass firmly in the pantheon of an exciting new wave of South African filmmaking characterized by introspective directors who are digging deep. Sep 21, 2017 Full Review Megan Purdy Ms En Scene It's harrowing and hilarious and neither aspect feels neglected or out of place. Feb 7, 2020 Full Review Grethe Kemp City Press (South Africa) "Fiercely relevant, it represents young South Africans with nuance - well the woke set anyway." Rated: 4/5 Nov 15, 2018 Full Review Chelsea Phillips-Carr Scene Creek High Fantasy is an engaging film which makes good use of its short 71-minute runtime for a fast-paced yet very full narrative. Busy Butterfly I had high expectations based on Flatland. Interesting themes came up in High Fantasy, but the plot was confusing and unrelatable. The storyline was long-winded and there were gaping holes. The filming technique was also a great idea, and I really enjoyed the focus on contemporary South African social issues. We need to see more of that in South African films. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Abysmal load of crap, anti white propaganda at its best. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Its friggin amazing.A MUST WATCH! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Really a well-executed film.
