christopher c. m I'm surprised this is about teen crime not teen suicide. I think the teen who killed himself in "Ordinary People" had it better than Marv. This is such a cliché melodrama. Plus, he never acted like a big shot. You'd think with the title it'd be about a jerk high school bully. Cliché badly written characters and it's classist toward poor people. Also, if his dad is not working and just drinking all day. I just have two questions? Why they haven't been kicked out for non payment of rent? I doubt they own the house. And second how is his dad still alive? Liver or kidney failure, alcohol poisoning? These are things to happen to people who spend the whole day doing nothing but drink, especially hard liquor. This is not a movie, it's a badly written overly long episode of "The ABC Afterschool Special". Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Ah, what happened to the good ole days when kids would simply cheat on their homework and get ahead in the world? Now they're out there robbing people, getting mixed up in the law, and ruining their futures! I'm being sarcastic, of course, because High School Big Shot is not a docudrama of any kind. It's just another bland 'teenager gone wild' movie, one of which was made during a time when these types of movies were being cranked out with low budgets all the time for the drive-ins. It's not a good movie at all, and it deserves the obscurity it has fallen into really. The only thing of note about it is that it was featured on any episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Otherwise, this one is instantly skippable. You'll probably forget I even wrote this. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Hilariously bad, but not really that bad. (At least not compared to the usual MST3K fodder.) Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This rating is for the MST3000 version. Thought I thought the movie was pretty decent within itself. The ending was just nuts. This is one of the funnier riffs of a B&W movie by the MST3000 crew and the short they riff before this was pretty good to boot. Was on IMDB and it's kinda sad the star of this movie died before it's release. Looks like the guy did about 20 movies and TV shoes in a two year span 57-58. This movie came out in 59. Looks like the guy died in 58 at the age of 26, wish they woulda said how, wondering if it was suicide or something. All and all that's a lot of movies and tv shows in 2 years, check his imdb. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This film isn't that bad... but it's not that good either. Some aspects of the film (e.g. the safecracker character, the rocky father-son relationship, etc.) are reminiscent of the more recent film "Blood and Wine".
