Jeff M Even though this early 80s TV movie is trash, I do not regret watching it. And this being the holiday season, I'm going to concentrate on telling you why I'm grateful to have seen it... 1) It's one of the few times Michael J. Fox was credited simply as Michael Fox. 2) You get to see Fox and an incredibly awkward Crispin Glover share scenes together a couple years before BACK TO THE FUTURE. 3) Lauri Hendler, one of the daughters in the Nell Carter sitcom GIMME A BREAK, actually says "gimme a break". 4) Anthony Edwards plays a prep here one year before he would play a nerd in REVENGE OF THE NERDS. Talk about range! 5) The cast includes actors from GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, DIFF'RENT STROKES, THE FACTS OF LIFE, DOBIE GILLIS and many others. If any of these interests you, give it a gander. If not, avoid like the plague. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Cocoo299 It was honestly pretty bad. If i had seen this when I was younger, I could've let it slide... but watching it now is just torture. I liked seeing Michael J Fox in this, and Crispin Glover was... fine. Most of the scenes with the teachers felt so unfunny and bland. I'm pretty sure they only named this movie "High School U.S.A." because it's so boring that this was the only name they could think of. The dialogue is awful and choppy, but the storyline is solid enough. If the characters had interacted differently, and if some of the scenes weren't so horribly ridiculous, this movie could've been so much better! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Good lord, what the hell was that? A literal collection of trash TV actors poorly acting with a terrible script that exploits every cliche teen movie trope in existance. Need I say more? Flush! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Really, the only good thing about this is the nostalgia and seeing likable actors. Otherwise, this is a mess: some bad acting, bad writing, settings that are completely wrong (Missouri has palm trees?) I remembered I loved this as a kid, and I should have just let it stay in memory rather than revisiting it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member typical 80s teen plot full of bad actors cept for mr fox of course Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member a roger corman-like version of fast times.
