Jason Best Movie Talk This low-budget sci-fi thriller punches above its weight when it comes to its FX but fails to pull off the story's mix of family melodrama and scientific gobbledegook. Rated: 2/5 Feb 1, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Psychotic S I love movies like this. They're overall visual style was endearingly artistic. There were several times where I questioned the character's development, but this movie kept me on the edge of my seat begging like a b*tch to see more. The only complaint I have is the movie's CGI and background/lighting combinations were off at times. Even backgrounds being of higher resolution that the actors and props themselves, BUT I'm not a fecking lunatic so I'm not gonna to include that in the over-all rating because budget contraints are a b*tch. Love this movie. If this movie had a human embodiment I wiukd treat it like a toe and bang it against every piece of furniture in my house. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/21/23 Full Review corkball Higher Power is a mixed bag. It is really high concept, and they do a great job with the CGI given what is CLEARLY a limited budget. That being said, the filming is all very dark to hide the low budget, and all the purple flashy lighting is for sure going to set off someone's seizures. Acting is so so, and the family drama subplot was entirely too long and drawn out. The final 5 minutes was a bit cheesy with a knock-off Dr Manhattan. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Higher Power is a tedious experience because of a script that spends too much time on the boring parts of the story, reiterating over and over the problems of the protagonist and his generic family drama. However, there are remarkable ideas spread out sporadically during the film's development, as well as fantastic imaginatively conceived images that challenge its small budget. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This wasn't even average at best. D grade acting to say the least. Wasted my money on renting this Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member No matter how reviewers try to build it up saying it's "different" or has "nuance" or whatever, this movie SUCKS. The nonsensically idiotic sci-fi premise stays quagmired in annoying dysfunctional family melodrama so that you lose interest before anything happens. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is so slow, dragging on. Half the movie is over and just starting to be the slightest bit entertaining......Zzzzzzzzz, Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
