      Critics Consensus

The fourth and supposedly last Highlander movie is a confusing mess, complete with bad acting and dialogue.

Steve D Unsatisfying end to the series. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Awais S We want it back and we want to see Christopher Lambert back in movies, please Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/22 Full Review Will S We want it back and we want to see Christopher Lambert back in movies, please Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/14/22 Full Review Audience Member I really don't get it; it has been emphasizing the last immortal since the legendary original; why so many suddenly just pop up from thin air? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Liam D Probably the best Highlander sequel but not by much because it's disappointing and bland finale Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/22 Full Review Audience Member I just watched this movie for the first time in years and I must say, it was terrible. The idea, the story, I think it's awesome, but the writing for this was god awful. The dialogue was cringe worthy. Kell was an over the top villain with the cheesiest lines since 1989. For Kell to have had such a history, why wasn't he ever mentioned before? Duncan's never heard of wife, smh. The first time Duncan sees Connor after the whole sanctuary thing, you'd think that scene would've had more depth 😂 the television show had better writing. The idea of both of the MacLeods in one story is pretty damned cool, but the dialogue just makes it laughable. It's a real shame that a decent reboot hasn't been done. Lisa Schwarzbaum Entertainment Weekly Rated: D+ Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times Highlander: Endgame looks sensational, moves like lightning. But its script (by Joel Soisson) makes no pretense about being logical or even comprehensible. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 15, 2002 Full Review Tim Cogshell Boxoffice Magazine Highlander: Endgame is truer to the original than the sequels, but it plays more like a television program than a theatrical release, which will matter little to the die-hard fans. Rated: 2/5 Jun 5, 2002 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal There's little that anyone who doesn't catalog "Highlander" kills online could possibly comprehend about this mythology-heavy permutation while mocking its Casio-demo score, junior-high-play scene blocking, Skinemax sex and oafish action sequences.
