Michael Wilmington Chicago Tribune Highway Courtesans carries a feeling of truth, of bravely facing problems that are pressing and real. It's a good, informative piece on the oldest profession--and on how the world differs from what we usually see in the movies. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 26, 2007 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Nine years in the making and timeless in its observations, Highway Courtesans is an intimate look at some of the youngest practitioners of the worlds oldest profession. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 1, 2006 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post The film isn't hefty enough for a theatrical release. Public TV would be a better showcase. Rated: 2/4 Dec 1, 2006 Full Review Marcy Dermansky About.com Highway Courtesans is certainly a depressing film--it is a horror that prostituting your daughters to feed the family and support your sons could be a commonly accepted practice--but Brabbee strikes a hopeful note. Rated: 3/5 Dec 3, 2006 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Ultimately, the film feels unfocused and attenuated, despite its brief running time. Rated: 2/4 Dec 1, 2006 Full Review Cherryl Dawson and Leigh Ann Palone TheMovieChicks.com Highway Courtesans may be flawed (it tends to stray off focus), but that doesn't lessen the emotional impact. Audience Member That fat guy from "Just Shoot Me" sure is funny, ex- "This is my kitchen. Sometimes my wife let's me fuck her over here." Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Just watched this documentary, I will say that as a factual piece, this was highly fascinating. To see how powerful women were and to show it in a way that leads us to wonder and visualize rather than tell us compared to lots of other documentaries. The impact was strange too, very odd film but very well done and with tons of wonderful moments. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
